Community Engagement

The Monterey City Council will benefit from a longtime community engagement professional, recognized statewide as a boardmember on the California Association of Public Information Officials.

These skills are critical to improve community engagement and transparency, solicit public feedback and communicate with you about how I am serving you. I’m an expert on both digital and traditional tools, from social media, e-newsletters, media relations, organizing community workshops, conducting surveys and website design.

Residents consume information in different ways, and we need to be able to reach more residents to solicit information, find out their concerns and get them involved in the public process. More than ever, we need to get more and new voices to participate in local government, while tapping into the wisdom of our veteran activists and neighbors. I want inclusivity to be a hallmark of my city council career. I am seeing too much discouragement this year by some local leaders, instead of encouragement to our neighbors to become civically active residents. I promise to create a more inviting, welcoming and inclusive city hall.

I have extensive experience as a government communicator during emergencies, both at the City and County of Monterey’s Emergency Operations Centers. I know how to get the word out about emergency response and recovery.

We need to make decisions that look ahead to future generations. I want my kids to be able to live here, thrive here, find jobs and affordable housing. I want them to enjoy the natural beauty and historic charm that generations before them have cherished.

I have spent my whole career bringing stakeholders together to help solve our most pressing issues. Let’s work together!
